Space & air (vata), fire & water (pitta), and water & earth (kapha) make up the psychophysiological profile of each individual. We are a combination of vata, pitta, and kapha. Vata, pitta, and kapha are elemental energies. Out of balance, vata, pitta, and kapha become doshas.

The practice of Ayurveda provides a springboard from which to work in maintaining balance. We are enabled to live a life of balance when we stay connected to our highest good and in sync with nature. Ayurveda provides the ability to have good quality strength and immunity that is our life sap or ojas. We improve our intelligence and discernment, make positive choices, liberate ourselves from fear and suffering, and live in happiness and radiant health with Ayurveda.

Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga, is traditional Indian medicine. One consults with an Ayurvedic practitioner to maintain wellness and treat imbalances. Disease prevention and cure are cultivated through recommendations for diet, lifestyle, relationships, career, exercise, yoga, herbs, and right action. Essentially, all aspects of one's life are taken into consideration when recommendations are made.

Ayurveda emphasizes the paramount importance of healthy digestion and identification of the root cause of disease to address imbalances; rather than the sole application of palliative measures. Ayurveda also honors and recognizes the need to address seasonal changes and the relationship/effect nature has on an individual's unique constitution. This provides a foundation for homeostasis of body, mind, and spirit.

An initial Ayurvedic consultation consists of the following:
  1. An introduction to Ayurveda.
  2. Completion of an Ayurvedic questionnaire to determine the client's psychophysiological profile. (This constitutional assessment is known as one's prakruti.)
  3. Completion of a health history form.
  4. Discussion of the client's questions and concerns.
  5. Recommendations for the client based on the practitioner's observation of the client's imbalances/current state (vikruti) and the client's questions and concerns.
  6. Seasonal cleansing instructions as they apply to the client.
  7. One month from the date of the initial consultation: Practitioner check in with the client to ascertain the effectiveness of the recommendations that have been implemented into the client's daily routine (dinacharya) and support for any questions or concerns that may have arisen, along with further recommendations if necessary.

***Subsequent to the initial consultation, follow up consultations are recommended prior to the change of seasons. Additionally, as part of the post-consultation support, clients are encouraged to contact their practitioner should imbalances or concerns arise between follow up consultations.
